Sid Daniels is a Miami Beach–based contemporary artist known for his evocative works on canvas and paper that merge fashion, architecture, and theatrical storytelling. Trained at the Ontario College of Art (1970–1974), Daniels draws on the nostalgia of 1930s–1950s fashion and the structural elegance of Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern design. His hard-edge paintings, mixed-media compositions, and expressive works on paper transform figurative forms into vibrant architectural and geometric worlds.

After relocating from Toronto to New York City in 1978, Daniels developed his signature style—later dubbed “Latin Deco”—a series of large-scale, flamboyant canvases featuring stylized women in dramatic hats and high heels. The glamour of the Disco Era, the choreography of Busby Berkeley, and the exuberance of Carmen Miranda fueled this bold new direction. His commercial successes during this period included the ANN TAYLOR shopping bag, custom artwork for FIORUCCI, and original pieces celebrating the 1984 Summer Olympics for the Chicago Marshall Field’s flagship windows. He also created album covers for CBS, JVC, ARISTA, and CBS International for artists including Nat King Cole and Special EFX, and collaborated with major hotels and nightclubs worldwide. His painting “La Mode” appeared in the 1982 film Tootsie.

In 1997, Daniels moved to Miami Beach, expanding his practice through public art projects and commissions including Flamingos on the Beach (2001), the Miami Beach Festival of the Arts poster (2004), the Kentucky Derby poster (2003), and artwork for Carnival Cruise Lines. His illustrations were featured nationally when NESCAFÉ Coffee Canada commissioned him for a campaign showcased across buses, subways, and magazines.

From 2013 to 2018 he produced several new thematic series:

  • Umbrella Paintings, exploring intricate line work, surface texture, and pattern

  • Mirrored Burlesque Works, large-scale compositions of stylized performers

  • Labyrinth Series, playful yet architectural geometric abstractions

Since 2019, Daniels has returned to his foundations in drawing and fashion. His Fashion Art Series captures the romance of vintage couture through layered mixed media, while his Abstract Works on Paper blend collage, texture, and experimental techniques to evoke landscapes, seascapes, and architectural spaces.

Daniels’ work has been exhibited at AQUA Art Miami (Art Basel Week), SPECTRUM, Sol Gallery, Dyansen Gallery, ArtExpo New York, Madison Square Garden (New Artists), Studio 54, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, as well as international showcases including New Yorkers in Barcelona.

His art has appeared in Grand Image: The Poster Collection, The Big Book of Fashion Illustration (Anova Books), The Art of Mickey Mouse (Hyperion Books), and 101 Southern Artists. He is published in American Illustration 44 (2025) and Beautiful Bizarre Magazine.
